Welcome Information
What can I expect my
first time at Sanctuary?
We know it can be a little unnerving to step into somewhere new,
especially when you’re not exactly sure about the details
that
matter to you. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions
about the church to give you a picture of what Sanctuary looks like
week to week.
What kind of people make
up Sanctuary?
What you’ll encounter when you attend Sanctuary is a diverse
biblical community where people seek to know and love God, live in
community with others and serve our city as we think Jesus would. Some
in regular attendance are just checking out Christianity for the first
time, while others have been in church their whole lives. Sanctuary is
attended by different ethnicities, ages and backgrounds. Everyone is
welcome.
What if I’m not
used to going to church?
You are the reason we started Sanctuary. Sanctuary wants to be a
comfortable place for those who are curious about God but have never
felt comfortable in church. We want Sanctuary to be a place where you
can learn, apply, and wrestle with God and what he wants for you.
It’s okay if you don’t have it all figured out yet.
Even
the original followers of Jesus had doubts.
What will the worship
service be like?
We try to keep it very simple. We make Jesus the focus. We follow a
basic pattern of meeting together that is traced back to the early
Church. We learn from the Bible, pray, meditate, sing and reflect. We
also remember Jesus each week by taking communion together. The goal
through it all is to be transformed into people that honor Jesus with
our lives. That includes learning to love God, others, and our city
with pure hearts.
What does the pastor talk
about?
We believe that since God created us, he is relevant to every aspect of
life. We seek to discuss the entire spectrum of issues we face today,
while applying the ageless truths of the Bible in a format
that’s
easy to understand, even if you’ve never been to church.
Typically, we go through entire sections of the Bible so we may learn
truth in context.
What should I wear?
At Sanctuary, you’re welcome to wear whatever you’d
like.
There is no set dress code, although the attire is more on the casual
side. Just be you.
What about my children?
Do you have a children’s ministry? Absolutely. Sanctuary is a
family-friendly environment. We believe that children are a blessing
from God and should be taught about God in an age appropriate manner.
We provide care for newborns through elementary age children.
Can I invite my friends?
Please do! We seek to be a welcoming environment for people who are
curious about what it means to follow Jesus or those who are seeking to
belong to a community of believers.
What kind of church is
Sanctuary?
We are an interdenominational Christian church which means we have
people from all different backgrounds. For a deeper look at our
beliefs, click here.
How can I get involved?
There are many ways to get connected at Sanctuary. Whether
you’re
serving on Sundays or the many opportunities to serve all over the
city, we believe you should serve somewhere. Anyone is welcome to
participate as we serve our community. For more specific opportunities check out ways to get connected.
These answers were okay,
